Making an appointment

We offer a range of appointment types and times with all of our clinical team

We are open Monday to Friday and offer appointments across a range of times including early morning and evening clinics.

If you want to arrange an appointment, there are two options:

  • Telephone the Practice on 0191 477 2243 and speak to a receptionist - in order to provide the most appropriate care the receptionists may ask you some questions about why you are requesting an appointment. They may suggest alternatives.
  • Call in at reception and discuss your needs with the receptionist - the receptionists will do their best to accommodate your needs, and if required suggest alternatives.

We have suspended online booking of appointments due to Covid measures and will re-introduce them again as soon as we can.  There is an emphasis on using the phone at present, but it is ok to ask the receptionist for a face to face appointment if you want this.  We have to make sure people with Covid are not attending the practice to protect staff and other patients so you might be asked about this.

Access and support

  • We are located on the ground floor in a modern purpose built health centre which has easy ramp access and wide doors if you are a wheelchair user.
  • If you have a hearing impairment, we have an induction loop available for you to use.
  • If English is not your first language and you would like an Interpreter to attend your appointment - please ask the receptionist who can arrange this for you.
  • Guide dogs are welcome if you are registered blind.
  • If you are a Carer and worry about leaving the person you care for to attend your appointment - please let the receptionist know - our Care Navigators may be able to offer help with this.

If you have any other requirements, regarding physical access to the building, or any other support that you may require, please discuss with the receptionist when you book your appointment.

More detail about how we organise our appointments

GP appointments

•    Pre-bookable appointments - these are appointments that you can book up to 4 weeks in advance. They can be booked by telephone or at the reception desk.
•    Same day appointments - these are appointments that you can book from 8.30am on the day. If you need a same day appointment we would advise you to telephone as soon as possible after 8.30am. The telephone lines will be busy, so please keep trying to get through. You can also book these appointments in person.
•    Home visits -  if you are housebound we may be able to visit you at home. You will be placed on a telephone triage list, the GP will ring you to ensure you receive the most aproppriate care. Please discuss with the receptionist.
•    Our reception team will collect some brief information from you - Reception staff are trained to ask certain questions, this will help doctors prioritise appointments, house visits and phone calls. Sometimes someone else may be able to help you. Any information given by you is strictly confidential and we take ANY breach of confidentiality very seriously. If you feel an issue is very private and do not wish to discuss then this will be respected.
